New Cricket Nets

New Cricket Nets

The groundwork for the new cricket practice area was completed this week. We hope this is the first phase of developing a top-class facility for our members. We have put in three concrete and stone batting lanes and Matt Dwyer will install the carpeting in the coming weeks.

We expect to find out in September if our application for Sports Capital Funding for netting, lighting, and a canopy was successful. We will be well placed to move forward if it is. In the interim, we will use our roll nets on the new surface. One way or another, we will have new nets to practice in shortly so there can be no excuses for not scoring runs and taking wickets.

The groundwork was done with the support of the Sports Club as part of their commitment to making right the area after the development work. The installation of the new carpets will be funded by the cricket club through our fundraising efforts. The Cricket Leinster Club Draw is a big part of this drive.
