2020 Season

We are delighted to launch our 2020 Youth Cricket Season. The Youth Committee have been busy planning lots of events for this season of cricket. We would love to welcome new members who are interested in playing cricket in a relaxed family friendly club. We are supported by a team of highly qualified coaches, led by newly appointed Head Coach Glenn Querl.

Training starts Friday 8th May 2020 – Friday 21st August 2020.

Additional Summer Coaching begins Monday 1st June 2020
Minors, Juniors, Colts, U19s – every Tuesday 4.30 – 6.00pm

Minors (5th & 6th class) & Cubs (3rd & 4th class)

Friday 6.30-8 pm

Cats (was under U8s – up to 2nd class)

Friday 6.30 – 7.30 pm

U19s, Colts (3rd& 4th years), Juniors (1st & 2nd years)

Girls Welcome!

We are now welcoming girls to the youth section in Railway. All are welcome to come along to try it out any Friday in May at 6.30 pm.


Please register so your child can be allocated to a team. If you have already paid a Railway Union Sports Club subscription for your child this year through another sport, get in touch with us at to get a revised payment link.

Parents/guardians for each child are invited to attend the Parents Information Evening on Friday 8th May 2020 @6.30pm.  We need your support to run a successful season and this event will give everyone an opportunity to meet the Coaches, Team Managers and Youth Committee.


Railway Union’s guiding principles are underpinned by Children First: National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children and the guidelines contained in the Code of Ethics and Good Practice for Children’s Sport.
All Coaches and Youth Committee Member have been Garda Vetted and have attended Safeguarding 1 Course.

2020 Cricket Academy

We are delighted to run our successful Cricket Academy one again this year where we shall
provide an environment to help young cricketers master technique and maximise their
potential in a fun friendly positive environment. It will be 6 weeks intensive of coaching geared toward each individual player. It will be technique based but will also include cricket-based S&C, player mentoring, video analysis as well as a lot of work on the mental approach to cricket.

The Coaching Team
Our coaching team is led by Glen Querl, a level 3 coach and first-class cricketer with an extensive coaching and playing CV in Zimbabwe and the UK. Glen is a former MCC young cricketer of the year and has a fantastic record in player development
Glen is supported by ex Irish International Kenny Carroll who has 20 years elite coaching and playing experience at club and representative level and is one of Irelands most respected cricketers and coaches.
