1sts keep winning run going

It was another weekend of high drama for the Railway cricket teams. The 1sts kept their winning streak going in Merrion in the Leinster Senior Cup. Merrion went from 119-3 to 133 all out in the type of batting collapse reminiscent of England in the mid 90s. Hamza and Fakhar ripped through them taking 4-13 and 3-19 respectively. It was squeaky bum time in the chase but they got over the line thanks to a great 20 run 10 wicket stand from Nitin and Esmat.

A similar batting collapse in the 5ths game v Carlow 2s saw Carlow go from 130-2 to 185 ao. Ash KS the pick of the bowlers with 4-26. Railway couldn’t quite get over the line though, falling 12 runs short, despite a fantastic 58 from Ted and 43 from Qasim.

On Sunday the 4s played Leinster 4s in Park Avenue and despite restricting them to 188, couldn’t chase it down falling 41 runs short. 55 from Kaiser and 4-23 from Kaushik the pick of the performances there.

In the fantasy league, Anudeep has seen his lead eroded slightly but remains top with Nippi hot on his tail. Top performer by a mile was Ted with a massive 160 points. He’ll be in a few more teams going forward I’m sure. The game week isn’t over though with the Women playing their second game of the season v Pembrooke on Wednesday.

A big week coming up with the 1sts playing their Irish Senior Cup match v Bready in Park Avenue on Saturday. The BBQ will be in full swing that day so lets get as much support for the team as possible down in the Onion Sack!
